Apple is recalling certain models of the MacBook Pro over battery fears.
In a statement, the tech giant has issued a voluntary MacBook Pro recall of a limited number of older generation 15in units because they contain “a battery that may overheat and pose a safety risk”.
The affected MacBook Pros were sold between September 2015 and February 2017, listed as “Apple MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)”, and can be identified by their serial number. All other 15in MacBook Pro models, as well as other Mac notebooks, are safe and aren't affected by this recall.
If you own a 15in MacBook Pro from this period, you can check if it's at risk using Apple's online eligibility checker .
Apple has said it will replace these batteries free of charge and is recommending people stop using their devices.

If you have been affected by the Apple MacBook Pro recall, you will need to send your device to an Apple Repair Centre to be serviced. Your MacBook Pro will be inspected to check its eligibility and it will take up to two weeks for the MacBook Pro battery replacement to be completed.
To send your device to an Apple Repair Centre, make an appointment in store, contact Apple Support to arrange for the MacBook to be posted or send it back via an Authorised Apple Service Provider .
